Oncology Diagnosis, Treatment and Monitoring

IRVA Clinic conducts a complete follow-up and treatment of cancer inpatients including:

Early diagnosis of malignant diseases, especially breast cancer, digestive tract, lung cancer, and melanoma, gynecological and urological malignancy.

Chemotherapy application at our hospital setting

During the application of the therapy. patients come from home to our hospital every day. In these conditions we apply the same chemotherapy treatments as those implemented in the outpatient settings, modeled after similar institutions in major European cities like Rome, and Paris. Principles of chemotherapy are in accordance with protocols of our foreign consultants.

We emphasize IRVA Clinic’s breakthrough technology based on latest  recommended trends in terms of preparing cytostatic drugs, or drugs dissolved in a laminar chamber under recommended European and world standards.

Consultations related to diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors, including additional consultations with the foreign physicians. This multidisciplinary medical approach allows the complete treatment of patients with malignant diseases in one place, from diagnosis to treatment, with no wait time for patients, or transferring from one institution to another, as is the case with all other institutions involved in oncology.

During treatment, a complete measure of diagnostic procedures has to be done, from physical examination and advice of experienced oncologists, to chemotherapy protocols according to the latest knowledge in oncology.

Chemotherapy is provided by an experienced medical team, with special care on drug preparation and monitoring patients during and after chemotherapy.

Clinic also conducts a complete treatment of supportive measures, including a clinic for pain syndromes, providing all types of blood products when medical team believes it is necessary.

Therapy may be provided by specially trained team of physicians and nurses using port-a-cath systems, with maximum comfort and secure venous access at any time.

Abdominal and pleural puncture are an integral part of treatment and often a significant part of diagnosis, and relieving symptoms of cancer patients.

Single room apartments for hospital treatments ensure the best care and recovery from daily care to prolonged treatment, as needed.

  1. CHEMOTHERAPY

Chemotherapy is applied upon the completion of examination and approval of physician therapeutic list. Preparation of cytostatic infusion is made by dissolving in a chamber, set in a separate room with all the necessary measures for personnel protection. The patient is connected to an infusion for indicated period of time, and under supervision of a nurse. Some infusions are used with infusion-timer due to specific time duration and required premedication.

  1. SPECIAL CARE  IN CASE OF COMPLICATIONS AND TREATMENT OF CHEMOTHERAPY SIDE EFFECTS

Our physician is responsible for consultations during a certain period and in some contested cases.
Common causes of complications are associated with hematological tocsins. Anemia is treated using transfusion of erythrocytes or blood without leukocytes at our daily hospital department of chemotherapy.

Leucopenia and Neutropenia, unless accompanied by signs of infection, require only home insulation and care.

In case of febrile neutropenia, depending on complication level, additional antibiotic treatment is needed, and hospitalization in a controlled environment conditions. Irva Clinic provides hospitalization in such cases using isolated rooms with bacteriology controlled environment for application of appropriate antibiotic therapy.

Thrombocytopenia, depending on the severity, also requires hospitalization, and is being treated with substitution in some cases of bleeding. Isolation is not necessary.

Besides hematological side effects, by frequency, we can also expect gastrointestinal disorders like emesis and diarrhea. Only serious cases of dehydration require hospital treatment, but without necessary isolation.
Other side effects are mostly sporadic, organ-specific, and only in severe cases require hospital treatment, which is very rarely.
